How I found the team:
I was a one year member of Compass United who met up with the team by fluke. I was in line at the bar to get a beer at La Bodega. Being tall, I guess I was in the line of sight between Michael et. al., and the 'football' game that was on the tube. After three very impolite requests to 'get the @#&* out of the way' I figured these guys would know where I could find a 'football' team to play with while I was in Taichung for the next year. After a brief interview I was allowed to come 'try out' and I guess I made it. At the time, I wasn't aware that I had found the best team in Taiwan.
High Points:
- With 10 players, 8 being severely hung-over from a night out on the town, and the other 2 being under 19 years of age, we won the Kaoshung Winter Cup!!
- Coming in 2nd place in our hometown tournament - I think our last tournament with the infamous Yellow Jersey, yeah??
- Beach soccer in Hualien
- Being a pseudo-celebrity, featured with the team in Compass Magazine!
- Rocking out with Ben and Keiron's band!!
Low Points:
- As a result of a small injury, I declined to take a penalty kick during the semi's of my last tournament in TAiwan. Instead, Dito 'The Brazilian Wonder' was selected, only to try his wild behind the back kick that missed the right post by 2 feet, successfully knocking us out of the tournament.
- Losing to the Tubbies in a few 'friendly's'
Future Goals:
- To make it back to Taiwan for one more game!!
